I recently bought this adapter key for my TLR8A. But not for use with a ReCover Tactical rail system. I bought it because I have a PX4 Compact Carry LTT. They have notoriously short rails and few lights fit and even less fit well. My wife bought me a TLR8A for Christmas thinking that since it was a smaller compact light that it would fit. Streamlight supplies 6 “keys” with the TLR7 and TLR8. They’re basically adapter plates with cross lugs in different positions to fit different handgun rails. None of them fit the PX4 Compact, however one was close, but not quite. I didn’t want the light to be just friction fit since I usually carry this gun every day in the winter. I came across ReCover Tactical’s adapter key for their subcompact rails, and from the photos it looks like the cross lug was in the perfect location for what I needed. So I ordered one, got it a few days later and yep, the cross lug is in the perfect location. So now my PX4 Compact Carry has one of the best pistol lights on the market, it looks great on the gun and actually fits well, and it isn’t just a friction fit.

M&P 9 Shield with the Recover SHR9 rail adapter paired with this key and a Streamlight TLR-7 makes an awesome combination. First class firearm accessories.

If you are going to add a light or laser or both for a TLR7/TLR8 to a subcompact gun without a rail you will definitely need on of these keys. Don’t learn the hard way like me and try to use one of the keys that came with the light/laser. When I ordered my second “Recover” rail adaptor I added one of these keys to the order. Works great.

The absolutely work to mate the TLR-7 to the P80SC, should anyone be curious.

First, I bought the Recover rail for a Glock 26 and that fit like a glove. Highly recommend. When I bought the optional key to mount the TLR7 sub light to the rail, the key did not fit properly to the light. Apparently, mine was one of the rare cases where this happens. Owners of the company were very responsive by email, and it took some very light sanding of some key surfaces to get it to fit the flashlight. After just a few minutes of sanding followed by test fitting, it worked. Everything goes together beautifully now. I took away one star since I had to modify the product a little. Everything else is great.

Technically, this would be installed on Recover Compact Rail for Glock43X - the GR43. It slides onto the rail adapter.

The key is only needed for Compact Rails. Our full size rails do not need the key to be compatible. I got that wrong. I will be correcting that now. Sorry.
